Lunchtime presentation “Role of Women in Middle East” with Pari Namazie

On 27 September, a fascinating lunchtime presentation on the socio-economic and political role of women in the Middle East, with a focus on Iran — past and present — was held by Pari Namazie, an Irani-an who understands this highly complex and differentiated culture as few others do. The luncheon, in the Mozart Room of the VIC Res-taurant, was attended by 26 people — almost equal numbers of mem-bers and non-members of WiN.
Pari is a human resource professional and cross-cultural consultant working in Vienna as a partner in Atieh International, a management consultancy fo-cusing on strategy, human resources and global intercultural competence. She was based in Iran from 1992–2010, where she co-founded the Atieh Group (www.atiehgroup.com), consisting of five consulting firms, and worked with both multinational and Iranian companies. Pari described some of the chal-lenges and opportunities she experienced working in a male dominated society in Iran as an educated female entrepreneur. Her presentation was well re-ceived by all luncheon participants.
