Short biographies of speakers:

  

Péricles Gasparini
Appointed Chief of the UNODA Office at Vienna in March 2015. Deputy Chief of the Conventional Arms Branch of UNODA in New York from 2009 to 2015. Director of the UNODA Regional Centre for Peace, Disarmament and Development in Latin America and the Caribbean (UN-LiREC) in Lima, Peru, from 1998 to 2009. From 2000 to 2001, he also acted as Executive Secretary of the Second Meeting of State Parties to the Mine Ban Convention, organised in Managua, Nicaragua. Holds a PhD from the University of Geneva, Switzerland, on International Relations.


Juliette Kohler

Juliette KOHLER joined UNODA to coordinate an initiative of Disarmament and Non-Proliferation Education for Women from the Global South.
She has previous experience in NGOs and at the European Commission in Development and International Cooperation. She has studied International and European law at the University of Strasbourg, and holds a joint Master from four different Universities in European Integration Law and Policies.


Ophelia Zenz

Ophelia ZENZ joined UNODA as Research Assistant for an initiative of Disarmament and Non-Proliferation Education for Women from the Global South. In this role she is supporting the project in providing advice on substantive issues. She has studied Political Science, as well as development Studies at the Universities of Vienna and Copenhagen.
