Join us for a Brown Bag Lunch with Ms Mary Alice HAYWARD, the new Deputy Director General, Head of Management.
This discussion is hosted by WiN-IAEA, and will include
topics on the vision and road map for gender equality at the IAEA.
Prior to joining the Agency, Ms Hayward was Vice President of Government
Affairs and Advocacy for AREVA Inc., in the United States. Ms Hayward served in
the U.S. Government for over fifteen years in the nuclear non-proliferation and
energy areas. Most recently, Ms Hayward was Deputy Assistant Secretary for
Nuclear Nonproliferation Policy and Negotiations at the U.S. Department of
State. She previously served on the National Security Council at the White
House as Director for Counter Proliferation Strategy, fulfilled the role of the
Secretary of Energy's Senior Policy Advisor for National Security Matters and
also served in the U.S. Senate as a Professional Staff Member for the Senate
Armed Services Committee and the Subcommittee on Emerging Threats and Capabilities.
She began her career as a Senior Evaluator for Nuclear Issues at the Government
Accountability Office, where she received the Energy and Science Issues
Excellence Award and Outstanding Achievement Award for Excellence in Evaluating
Ms Hayward holds an MA in political science from the University of
Texas at Austin, and a BA in Anthropology and Foreign Languages from the
University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. She also holds a Massachusetts Institute
of Technology, Department of Nuclear Sciences and Engineering and National
Academy for Nuclear Training Reactor Technology Certificate.
